Kia Motors America will be sending me to North Hollywood, all expenses paid. However, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
When I became a mom a little over six years ago, I told myself I would not become one of those moms that drives a minivan. Fast forward four years and a second kid – and we purchased one. People who see me driving around town in it automatically know that I am a mom. Yes, I am a mom, but I am a woman too. One who loves to zip around in powerful and good looking cars – like the Kia Stinger. That is why I am SO excited to announce that next week (11/15-11/17) I will be ditching my mom van and heading to sunny California, where I will get the chance to drive the new 2018 Kia Stinger GT. And I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it!
The Garland Hotel
While in North Hollywood, California for the Kia Stinger National Press Introduction, I will be staying at The Garland Hotel. I admit that as soon as I looked up this hotel, I was blown away. It is a 70s themed hotel and I cannot wait to visit and share photos with you guys. It looks way super cool! From their website: Walk into The Garland and you’re instantly transported to a secluded, urban oasis, yet close to all the action and excitement of Universal Studios, Hollywood and LA’s best attractions. Nestled within seven tree-shaded acres, this authentic LA experience is complete with a welcoming vibe and modern amenities to keep you plugged in, yet completely relaxed.
About the Kia Stinger
The second I laid eyes on photos of the Kia Stinger, I fell in love. This car is stunning! It has a sleek design that basically had me drooling at first site. Then when I saw the drifting videos, I was blown away. It looks fantastic AND has that kind of power?!? Come to Mama – I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of one!
“A true gran turismo, a car for spirited long-distance driving, is not about outright power, hard-edged dynamics and brutal styling, all at the expense of luxury, comfort and grace,” notes Gregory Guillaume, chief designer, Kia Motors Europe. “The Stinger has nothing to do with being the first to arrive at the destination – this car is all about the journey. It’s about passion.”
“I think for the Kia brand, the Stinger is like a special event,” notes Albert Biermann, the head of Kia’s Vehicle Test & High Performance Development. “Because nobody expects such a car, not just the way it looks but also the way it drives. It’s a whole different animal.” Kia’s engineers put every development Stinger through a minimum of 480 laps (equivalent to 6,214 miles) of high-stress driving around the Nordschleife for quality, reliability and durability testing. The constant combination of hard acceleration, rapid deceleration, heavy cornering, changing surfaces and camber offers an unrivaled test of dynamic prowess and the distance covered during the Stinger’s development resulted in nearly 100,000 miles of on-road testing.
How To Follow Along
When I get back I will have so many more details on the 2018 Kia Stinger for you – but be sure to follow along on social media next week for up to date information. On the morning of November 16th, I will be attending the Stinger Product Briefing before taking one out on the road myself! Be sure to stick to my Twitter (@MamasGeeky) like glue to learn all of the inside details. And not to mention, see some pretty sweet photos. I have already added the Kia Stinger to my Christmas list this year. Here’s to hoping I can ditch that mom van for good soon!
