If you are looking for a smartphone for someone on your gift list, consider getting one from Boost Mobile. I received the Alcatel ONETOUCH Elevate and I think it is the perfect gift for a preteen, young teenager, or parent this holiday season. It has the Android 5.1 which is fast, customizable, and smooth so you don’t have to be held back while searching the web or playing with apps. The touchscreen works pretty well (although I found sometimes I had to push harder than I would expect) and is 4.5 inches, which is a pretty big screen. The processor is really fast too and loaded large graphics and photos quickly.
The phone automatically switches from Sprint’s nationwide 3G to 4G when in range and it is done fairly seamlessly. This phone also has Mobile Hotspot capability which is great when you are traveling with a larger item like a laptop (there is a monthly charge for this). The battery lasted a pretty long time too – about 15 hours when I tested it several times. The phone feels really light in hand, but it is more durable than you would think. My 4 year old was playing a game on it and dropped it a few times in a row with no cracks or breaks. The phone comes with an onboard 8GB ROM/1GB RAM memory meaning you can load a good amount of apps on to it. If that is not enough for you, there is a spot to add a 32GB microSDHC Card for more storage.
Overall, I think the colors are bright and the phone works well. The touchscreen is not as sensitive as I would like, but it does work easily. The ALCATEL ONETOUCH Elevate is an affordable, multipurpose smartphone – and I recommend it for someone that wants a smartphone on a lower budget. Priced at just $99.99, this is a great option. Boost Mobile has many other phones as well, so if this is not the one for you, check out the rest of their selection.
