skybrary islands

My daughters love to read. I spend hours reading with them each day, but sometimes I have other things I need to get done around the house. Usually this is the time when they play together with their toys, or maybe watch a movie, but lately, they have been hoping on the tablet to use the Reading Rainbow Skybrary App. This app is great for so many reasons – the most important one being keeping kids reading in this time of technology.

I love the Skybrary App because I can set up profiles for each of my girls. These profiles are personalized and include reading islands that cater to their likes – for example my oldest loves Animals and my second wanted all fairy-tale and princess books. Once in your profile, simply go to the different islands and select books that you wish to put in your backpack (download). Kids can read them as many times as they like – and even interact with them! There is room for five books in your backpack. You can then return them and get more. My daughters love picking out books to have read to them.

There are also videos available on the islands which my daughters have fun watching as well. Skybrary even includes a parents dashboard where you can see what books your children are reading and for how long. This is a great app and is available in iTunes, Android Play Store, and even on the computer! Skybrary is available at www.readingrainbow.com and offers a 14-day free trial with unlimited access to the complete digital library of books and videos. After the trial period ends, subscription plans are available. Skybrary is available from RRKidz. Go ahead and try it out, you are sure to love it!
